Canada Post: Bargaining deferred until 2026

April 8, 2025

PSAC-UPCEs bargaining team have agreed with the employer to defer negotiations until 2026.

To get money in your pockets as soon as possible, your bargaining team has agreed to a retroactive 5% increase as of September 1, 2024, without any concessions on other issues.

Bargaining will resume at the latest in August 2026.

What does this mean for you

Great news, members don’t have to do anything at this time. You can expect your retroactive pay and implementation of the increase within the next 90 days. Keep in mind, this deferral also means that negotiations for all non-monetary issues will be on pause.

In the meantime, UPCE-PSAC is not done fighting. We are waiting for the report from the Industrial Inquiry Commission and hoping to see our recommendations taken into account. We want to see a plan to strengthen Canada Post while protecting our public post office, reducing outsourcing and committing to fair bargaining practices.

PSAC is proud to stand up for workers, for public services, and for a postal system that works for all. We will continue to fight for a future where Canada Post thrives—not just for today’s workers, but for future generations who rely on a strong, public postal service.
